Rope! by Patrick Hamilton
Directed by: Ms. Miranda Inman, Mr Ewan Sanderson and Pippa Heylings
Place of performance: Teatro Ocho y Medio, Quito
Year of production: 2011
Review:
This year's Secondary Production was a HUGE success! We were so excited to be back at Ocho y Medio Quito and were as good as sold out on Tuesday and Wednesday, and turning people away on the door by Thursday. Rope! by Patrick Hamilton was a successful play in its own right, before it was given an even higher profile turnes into a feature film by Alfred Hitchcock in 1948.
The rehearsals involved balancing books on heads in order to perfect a 1920s posture, mixing cocktails, improvising murder scenes and debating existentialism. This year's theatrical production also saw a huge collaboration with lots of secondary students; wheter was designing, ushering, filming, painting or collecting props, the whole team was vitally important. Thank again to everyone involved!
